WTU Media Statement - DC City Council’s Approval of Teachers' Contract

The Washington Teachers’ Union (WTU) commends Chairman Gray and the DC City Council for voting today to approve the collective bargaining agreement. Today’s vote means that we can now move forward with implementation of a new contract that will improve working conditions for our teachers and increase academic achievement for all students.

  1. The contract is long overdue.However the greatest weakness is IMPACT.An evaluation process that can be used as a tool by Principals and Master Educators to fire teachers and will hinder teacher's salary increase if we receive a total below 250 pts.
